"I just got my certificate and I'm excited to start! What do I need to get started?"

First things first: you need to get yourself a good table.
Two things to look out for:
Once you have your table sorted, you will also need:
Two things to look out for:
- for Lomi Lomi the headpiece needs to be detachable (so that you can do Lomi stroke property when your client is lying on their front), so make sure that your table has this feature
- if the upholstery is not oil proof, you will need to also purchase an oil proof cover. This will be essential so that you can do the under-the-body work smoothly and without damaging your table.
Once you have your table sorted, you will also need:
- a few sarongs for your clients
- a small pump dispenser with organic coconut oil, or any blend you like
- a few drops of essential oils to your dispenser. I love rose, geranium, clary sage, patchouli, ylang ylang, and lavender
- a portable speaker or small sound system
- a playlist that inspires and relaxes you (feel free to use mine or Nisarga's, all available on Spotify)
- a warm room! Make sure your space is heated to about 26-27 degrees, otherwise your client may get cold. Use as many heaters as you need to achieve a comfortable temperature
- candles, incense, flowers, crystals, etc... anything to make your room feel like a sacred healing space
I have my table and my space ready! what next?

We recommend that you do about 20-30 free or by-donation sessions, before you start charging as a therapist.
Put the word out on social media, it is usually very easy to find willing guinea pigs!
Keep a log of your sessions, and ask your receivers for feedback on what you can improve. If they loved it, ask them for a review, which you can share on your website or social media page.
Enjoy the process of finding your own flow as a therapist, and trust yourself. You will know when you are ready to charge.

How should I prepare for a session?

- Give yourself plenty of time to prepare so you are calm and relaxed when your client arrives
- Prepare your space. Make sure it is clean and warm (26-27 degrees), light candles and incense, prepare your table, your oil and your music.
- Make sure you are freshly showered (and teeth brushed!). No one wants a smelly massage therapist!
- Do whatever you need to do to feel relaxed and in your body. I love doing a little gentle movement or dance, stretch, and sing a few Haiwaiian prayers.
- If you have seen this client before, make sure you review your log book to refresh your memory of previous sessions.
What else can I do to keep learning and improving as a therapist?

Great question!
Something important for bodyworkers is to remember to RECEIVE regular bodywork. There are so many benefits that come from receiving: it helps YOU to relax and drop deeply into your body, it helps you learn what feels good (or not so good), and you will pick up little tips and techniques from other therapists, so you keep learning. You will learn just as much from receiving as you do from giving sessions.
A wonderful thing to do is to do swaps with other therapists, from Lomi Lomi or other modalities. Reach out to the other graduates from your group (or previous groups), or any of your bodyworker friends, and make a date!

How do I move up to the next level as a Lomi Lomi practitioner?

You simply complete the training again. Every time you come to training you will see everything with new eyes, informed by all of your accumulated previous experience (inside and outside of trainings). You will be able to pick up on subtleties that had previous gone unnoticed, so that every training you take will help bring your own mastery to a whole new level. It is also deeply beneficial to immerse yourself into the energy of Aloha (Love) that the group creates during these intensive experiences, and will help you open that channel so that you may offer unconditional loving presence to every one of your clients. We often have practitioners with over 20 years of experience come to train again, for this very reason.
Please always feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
I am very passionate about sharing the magic of Lomi Lomi with the world, and YOU are a big part of that.
So if you need support, I am here :)
